WebLoyalty.com aka WLI*ReservationRewards Is A Scam

Update September 13, 2006: Webloyalty… sued.

Update May 7, 2006: I get a lot of email asking me “how do I get them to stop charging me?” My entry below, and about 1,000 of the comments, tell you how, but here’s the short version: call 800-732-7031 and tell them you want all your money back. Do not give up until they refund all of it.

Update July 25, 2006: Nearly 1,300 comments and counting…

I recently noticed a charge on my credit card bill for “WLIRESERVATIONREWARDS 800-7327031” CT for $9. I had no idea what the charge was, so I called 1-800-732-7031 and finally figured it out. Below is a slightly edited letter I’ve sent to the Massachusetts Attorney General Consumer Protection office. If nothing else, I hope this weblog entry shows up on a search for this company, the phone number, or Vincent D’Agostino (the President of the company) and Mary O’Reilly (the customer service director). (My apologies to any Vincent D’Agostinos or Mary O’Reillys out there who aren’t related to this scam).

On November 2, 2004, I purchased airline tickets from the website onetravel.com.

On my most recent credit card bill, I noticed a charge for $9 for a transaction on 12/2 posted on 12/5 for WLIRESERVATIONREWARDS 800-7327031 CT. I had no idea what the charge was, and was certain I hadn’t signed up for any “reservation rewards” program, so I did a web search for the phone number for the item. Apparently, many other people have had the same exact charge for the same item without ever having ordered it.

I called the company to dispute the charge, and they insisted that I had signed up for some kind of rewards service when I purchased airline tickets. I insisted that I had never signed up for any such service, but they claimed they had sent me three emails confirming the service, which apparently is a monthly subscription for $9 per month which gives you discounts on some products or services online.

When I complained that I was sure I had never signed up for any such service, they said that they had “millions of satisfied customers” and that the complaints were just a few.

Since I maintain my own mail server, I was able to search back over the last 60 days of mail logs, and there was no record of any email originating from this company. Even if such an email had been caught by a spam filter, it would still show up in the mail log. I am thus certain that they never sent any confirmation emails.

Finally, I threatened to contact my state attorney general, and at that point they agreed to refund the $9 and cancel my subscription.

I checked the Connecticut Better Business Bureau website for this company, which goes under a dozen aliases, and saw that there have been many complaints along similar lines.

I am a computer programmer and intellectual property attorney specializing in Internet law, and thus I am not a naive Internet consumer—while I realize that some people may accidentally sign up for services they didn’t intend to purchase, I am certain that I never did this. I believe this company is operating fraudulently, and their “millions of satisfied customers” are people who do not scrutinize their credit card bills carefully, since a $9 charge is easy to miss.

I would like the Consumer Protection division of the Attorney General’s Office to look into this problem as I am sure it affects many Massachusetts Citizens.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information. The Connecticut Better Business Bureau also lists the following address for the company in question:

Webloyalty.com, Inc.
101 Merritt Seven, 7th Floor (Corporate Offices)
Norwalk, CT 06851

This doesn’t speak very well of onetravel.com, although I hear expedia.com and other providers have similar dealings with webloyalty.com.

I’d like to think the web could ultimately prevent more fraud than it enables, but at this point I think the prognosis is bleak. Leave a comment below if you’ve had a similar experience with this company.

Update: This site includes dozens—maybe hundreds—of reports of the same problem with this company.

I just got nailed by the same scam. We called the number associated with the charge and they agreed to refund the money and halt any future charges. The “customer service rep” continued to insist that I had received emails when I had not. She also claimed I had typed in my email addy several times which was completely false. This scam stinks and if these messages get forwarded to the attorney general or someone please include mine.

I just recently noticed that I’ve had two $9 charges from WLI*RESERVATIONREWARDS - 888-6885995, MI. This didn’t start happening until I purchased my textbooks online!?!?!?

  5. DDC Jan 28

    Adam, you should file a class-action. $$$

  6. John Jan 28

Same deal with me WLI*RESERVATIONREWARDS showed up on my credit card statment with out my consent. Interesting there was no phone number associated with the charge. My credit card company refunded my money and set up a dispute with the account. Much nicer dealing with the credit card company.

Wow, I can’t believe they are doing this to so many people. I have had a 9.00 charge on my ATM/Mastercard for the last few months. I just thought my husband had gotten something. Since 9.00 is not a very large amount, I kept forgetting to ask him about it, until today. We too, have been ripped off! I am about to call now. Thanks for this webpage.

  8. Bruce Jan 28

We run a small business, and when reconciling our bank statement I noticed the same $9 charge. A search for ReservationRewards brought me to this site. A phone call to the 800 number yielded a promise to have the account credited within 2 days. The only out of the ordinary purchase we had made on line just prior to the unauthorized charge, was for a training seminar. I wonder how much of the $9 they get?

  9. Cathy Jan 28

I recently noticed that I was being charged $9.00 a month on my statement and had seen it for several months but I just figured it was something my husband was buying but then I noticed it was the same date every month. I called the phone number and asked them how they got my info and what I was being charged for. The said I sign up for something through my email. I never did such a thing. Be careful this is a scam.

  10. Matt Jan 28

Thanks for putting this up. I just got off the phone with these guys. They claimed they “were making an exception to the rules” when they refunded 4 months worth of charges to me. I asked where they got my CC# and they claimed it was from ebgames.com, a site I sometimes buy stuff from. I’m filing a complaint with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection and will be taking the issue up with ebgames.com customer service and perhaps the Pennsylvania Bureau of Consumer Protection if that doesn’t work out well.

this morning, while setting up a payment for a card i only used to consolodate two cards for lower interest, i found a charge for $9 for WLI. i checked recent months and found an identical charge two months ago that had gone unnoticed. thank you adam, et. al. for the information.

  12. James Jan 28

I called the company and they dared to tell me that they will make an exception for me and refund me the money. When I told them to please not tell me this because this is what their company is based upon, the lady raised her voice on me. They should throw in jail not only the owner of the company and CEO, but all the employees who are lying over the phone and losing their integrity for a monthly paycheck.
Thank you for putting this on your website. It was greatly appreciated.

  13. Jeff Jan 28

I too recently noticed a $9.00 charge on my card and while surfing for the site ran across this site. When I called thier toll free #. they tried to tell me that I signed up with them after bidding for an item at UBID.com

  14. Ken Lin Jan 28

I had the same scam. My credit card was charged a $9 on 12/27/2004. I called WLI*RESERVATIONREWARDS 800-7327031 CT and they agreed to refund the money and halt any future charges. The “customer service rep” claimed that when I won a bid from priceline.com, I had typed in my email address several times which was completely false. This is totally cheating and I never joined or was willing to join their membership. If these messages get forwarded to the attorney general or any other attorney please definitely include mine.

I just had the same scam happen to me also. The same $9 charges each month. We contacted them yesterday and they said that they would credit back our money and cancel the future charges. This morning, I checked my bank statement online and they had charged it again after i had spoken to them. Can you imagine how much money they are making off this scam? I’m sure that they are thousands of people who use such sites as ebgames.com and the various online travel sites each day…multiply that by $9 a month….that is one incredibly lucritive scam. This company needs to be stopped.

  16. Lydia Jan 28

Can’t believe it! I just noticed this monthly $9 fee with WLI*RESERVE 800-7327031. I don’t know where it is from! I searched this number on-line then found this webpage. Thanks a lot! I realise it’s a scam. I think it maybe happened after I purchased a book on amazon.com in October 2004. I will call them tomorrow morning to get my money back and cancel this subscription! This company should be stopped.

  17. George Jan 28

Same here. What a shameless company that it. Or we should describe those as criminals. They definitely should be stopped right now.

  18. Ian Barefoot Jan 28

I just found the exact same charge on my online banking statement CHECK CRD PURCHASE 01/01 WLI*RESERVATIONREWARDS 800-7327031 CT this is the second month they’ve charged me $7 and I just now caught it, so naturally I plugged the name into the search engines and found this site. I haven’t even purchased airline tickets in the last year.

SAME SCAM WAS PULLED ON ME WHEN I CONDUCTED A PURCHASE AT E B GAMES… I AIN’T DONE WITH THESE TOILETS, TRUST ME…

  21. sketchelement Jan 28

Was WLI Reservations the actual company from which you purchased your airline tickets? Seems to me that if not, the airline ticket dealer could be partially blamed for either their lack of sufficient security or for partnering with such a shady company. Based on other comments, it seems that other folks have seen this charge when making purchases from different vendors — I wonder how in those cases WLI Reservations is able to capture CC numbers.

Hi… I recently encountered a problem with this company but I got to the bottom of it, and thought I’d share what I found out.

I’m actually on the other end of things… I have a web store, and one of my customers saw this $9 charge on her credit card statement. When she called to find out what it was, they told her she’d signed up for this rewards program via MY website. I, of course, was appalled, could not imagine how that could be true (thought maybe they had hacked into my servers??) and so I called the folks who provide our secure credit card processing (www.virtualcart.com) to see if they could shed any light. Turns out, they were 100% aware of the stupid thing… in fact, they signed up for it.

Here’s how it works - shopping cart providers (like VirtualCart) have an agreement with this company (Webloyalty, aka WLI Reservations Rewards) whereby when a customer gets to the confirmation page of a transaction in a store that uses a VirtualCart shopping cart, they see a little box saying: “Your purchase is complete. Click here to claim your $10 Cash Back Reward on your next purchase!”

It looks, for all intents and purposes, as though it’s part of the store that you’re on but underneath the “Continue” button that you can click, in small print, it says “By clicking above, you can claim your reward from the reward provider, Reservation Rewards.” It basically banks on the assumption that customers trust the site they’re on, THINK they’re getting $10 back from that store, and so they click on it. Once you click on it, it pulls your credit card information from the site you just used, and signs you up for this “Rewards” program. It’s the most godawful scam I’ve ever heard of, but as I said, the people providing cart services to vendors have CHOSEN to be part of it (although, in my case, as I suspect in many, without the vendor even knowing!!). When I spoke to my shopping cart provider, they were quick to tell me that they thoroughly researched this program, that places like Yahoo and Expedia all use it, etc etc. I then had to formally submit a request for them to DISABLE this stupid thing on my web store (I couldn’t even do it myself through my control panel).

It’s a pretty hideous scam, but that’s how it works. Hope this is helpful…
    Kerry

I was just caught by WLI. I was wondering why this scam hasn’t been stopped since complaints started in September 2003!

  25. beve Jan 28

happened to me in fast i am on the phone with them right now….i never signed up for this i ignore those cracker emails they cancelled it just now what a rip

THEY’VE BEEN GETTING ME FOR MONTHS. jUST GOT MY BANK STATEMENT AND THE $9.00 CHARGE IS STILL BEING TAKEN.PLEASE USE ME ON YOUR LIST OF RIPOFFS. PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO. I’M DOING ALL I CAN TO STOP THIS SCAM. TELL ME WHO ELSE TO CONTACT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW!!!! THANK YOU KERRY, I THINK THAT HAPPENED TO ME.

  27. Oscar Guilamo Jan 28

That happen to me. I was checking my credit card as a routine to control the expenses, and BINGO, I found the WLI Reservation Reward just charged into my account. As you said “a very small fee “$9″ times 1,000,000 card holders will be an impressive $9,000,000 charge” I call the bank to stop the fraudulent payment. Hope with this information I get the result done faster than ever. In Other hand, check for the JFYONLINE who is doing charged for $80.50 using authorized electronic checks, that also happen to me yesterday.

  28. Barb Jan 28

It’s January 2005 and I noticed we’ve been billed for almost a year! I also thought it was something hubby signed up for. It happened when we made hotel reservations online. I am calling both the CC company and WLI today! How disgusting. I don’t expect all my money back. :(

  29. Lea Jan 28

The same thing has been happening to me . I was told on the 800 number for my bank that the only way to stop this was to get another Debit Card … I did but it still went through on the old number . I called the 800 for WLI but was asked to give a member number or a Credit Card Number .I have never seen a member number and was hesitant to give a credit card number .

  30. moses Jan 28

me too $9/mo charge on my cc since 6/04.
i’ve filed disputes on each of the charges with my cc company, hope refunds aren’t a hasel

I am currently serving in Iraq, have been for 4 months, and noticed that I have been recieving charges from WLI for $7 (am I a lucky one to get off so cheap?). I have gone to their webpage with an unloaded weapon—you see, you have a logon & password to see “your” account information. Beings I did not know I was a member, needless to say I do not have that info. So I e-mailed them my name as it appears on my credit card, told them to cease, desist & refund….. Hoping for the best.

  32. Robert Campbell Jan 28

I also saw this $9.00 charge on my bill. We live in Utica , N.Y. The only differince was in the phone number.
They did not have the 31 at the end. Thanks to your posting on the web we found the End of the number. We called and found out that when my wife ordered her coat this was there. On calling they said they would take it off, as we said we did not want any thing from them. I will come back here and let you know what happnes.

  33. TJM Jan 28

My information was hijacked through http://www.ebgames.com using the Coke $10 discount for ESPN video games. It is unfortunate that this “feature” exists but I called and they were happy to cancel and refund the previous charges.

    Good luck

  34. Vivek Jan 28

I have been a victim of this scam as well. I called my credit card company to dispute the charges but nothing much has happened after that. I wonder whom to call to get this canceled.

  35. DHS Jan 28

Found two $9.00 charges to my credit card today. Called the number you gave and to cancel membership a recording asked for my membership number?(I’m not a member that I know of) or credit card number!!! No way! I recalled the number and got a representative and when she asked how she could help I said I wanted to get out of the scam you’re pulling- the line went dead! I’ll report it to my credit card company and let them handle it.

  36. Jennifer Christopher Jan 28

I was just checking my debit log and found this charge for $9 from some company. Apparently I signed up when I was shopping online from Lillian Vernon. I was charged for $4 months. I never got an email or anything. Is this legal? I know it’s $36 but it is the simple fact they have access to my account that upsets me. Anyone can email me at mjcc_auctions@mac.com with any info . Thanks and hope to stop the madness. Jen

  37. KDM Jan 28

Adam, first of all, thanks for posting this information I’m glad to see I’m not alone. I too was surprised to find 2 charges on Credit Card just yesterday from this so-called company. My Credit Card company was sympathetic and said that it shouldn’t be a problem getting the charges refunded. When I called these crooks, Tim the representative I spoke with, insisted that “someone” signed up for the service from AccStation.com. It took me a while to realize that I had made a small purchase from this site 3 months ago as a result of an Ebay winning bid. However, I never knowingly signed up for any so called “service” when I paid for the item. All I know is that if I used someone’s card without his or her knowledge it would be called “Theft” and I would be prosecuted for it. How are these people getting away with it?
    /Kevin

  38. James Fraser Jan 28

Same thing here. I called and they did say that they would refund all of my previous charges. I received my latest statement on 1/13/05 and $9.00 was credited to my account. I’m not sure when these charges began and I unfortunately don’t keep very good records. I intend to check with my credit card company to see if any more money is owed to me. I am a Massachusetts resident and had intended to contact the Mass. Attorny General’s office. But it seems as though because these people are operating from several different states that this might be a matter for the U.S Attorney General’s Office.

  39. Mark Jan 28

Certainly a lesson learned .. I arranged a conference call with my credit card representative and WLI. The representative was very familiar with the WLI memberships and how the whole “failure to read the fine print” gimmic works. The representative indicated that WFI has been very responsive to canceling memberships and crediting past charges. I’m embarressed to say that the $9.00 charge has been on my account since September ‘04! I requested a credit for the full amount (on advice from my representative) and WFI agreed to the full amount plus membership cancellation so we’ll see if I actually receive a credit back to September. Be sure to be very specific on your request for credit for ALL charges, have them repeat the dollar amount to be credited to you, and request a confirmation number for the transaction. I believe that I missed the fine print when purchasing movie tickets from Frandango.com which I will no longer do business with nor recommend to others.

  40. Chris Jan 28

Thank you for the information. I knew I did not sign up for any “reservation rewards” and I know I have definitely not used it. They have been charging my credit card for months. I get to start dealing with this first thing Monday morning. WHAT A SCAM. I hope I can at least get some of my money back.

  41. Charles Jan 28

Had the same thing happen.Had no idea how they got my credit card #,sounds like a big scam going on or computer hijacking.

  42. Bob Jan 28

    Same thing here…

  43. Ainsley Jan 28

classmates.com is the site that ripped me off. I emailed them and let them know that they were being used as bait for this scam. Maybe they will cancel their business membership with them…or not. If you guys don’t get your money back, file a complaint with the better business bureau. That’s what I did.

  44. Maria Jan 28

I just discovered the charge as well, I’m glad someone made this site it is very helpful. Has the better business bureau helped in any way? Have they shut down the company? If they haven’t why can’t they shut it down?

  45. Rebecca Jan 28

Same thing with me, 9. charge out of my account. How violating.

  46. James Jan 28

I had the same thing happen. Seems I spend too much of my little free time dealing with all sorts of scams w/ credit card fraud. Is there not public fraud protection from our government or do they just make a few campain contrubtions and get away with it.

I called Reservation Rewards at 800-732-7031. They are extremely polite. They cancelled my membership without a problem, then tried to give me a one month refund. I told Talasha that I knew how the scam worked, and wanted a full refund. She was more than happy to issue a full refund (we’ll see). I can only imagine how many people are being charged without realizing it. There must be quite a few, for them to issue refunds so easily.

  49. Larry (Wisconsin) Jan 28

I can’t believe that I’ve been hooked for the same $9.00 charge for the past four months! As several have said, this is one of those small charges that is overlooked, thinking one of us charged something the other didn’t know about. My wife finally caught it and asked what the $9 charge was for. I had no idea. I called WLI and demanded they refund our $36 immediately, which she promised to do after a few minutes of haggling. She at first said she would cancel our membership with no further charges but when I insisted I wanted a full refund she said they would make “an exception” in my case since I was so angry. We’ll see if we get it. If not, they’re getting another phone call with another call being made to the Wisconsin Dept. of Justice. Thanks for the heads-up!

  50. D in Ohio Jan 28

I too was scammed - apparently after placing an order with Lillian Vernon. I do remember clicking to receive $10 off on my next order (as the operator John #58 from Reservation Rewards confirmed I did) and this is where the charge came from. He did say he’d refund my $9 and stop my membership. Thanks for THIS INFO, which gave me the background info I needed to pursue the refund.

  51. Robert in Mass Jan 28

Exact same problem as desribed by everyone else - this showed up on 2 cards within the last year and I gave no approval for the charges. Save your statements - class action suit should follow…

  52. L in New York Jan 28

I was also scammed however after having my bank trace the transaction number, it turns out it was Deep DVD Discount (website) that was charging me. After contacing them, they politely credited me for 3 months and cancelled my “membership”. Thanks to the valuable information posted on this site, I was able to take action and get my money back.

  53. Jon in MA Jan 28

Thanks for the info. It was helpfull to read all your postings before I called them on the phone. We were signed up by a purchase my wife made @ Lillian Vernon.com. They seemed reluctant to refund the $9 charge, but finally agreed. Thanks Again.

  54. Rebecca Jan 28

Second Entry… I called the company and they said it stemmed back from my order from Smartbargains.com. I received a confirm email of my termination from this company and am planning on emailing smartbargains.com to let them know of the problem.

  55. Briana Jan 28

Thanks for this info. I placed a call and it turns out mine stems back from ordering movie tickets on FANDANGO.

I noticed the same charge on my bill today and googled the company and found this web log. Thanks for putting this information online for all to see.

  59. Gordon in CA Jan 28

Yep, me too another gets nailed with another BS scam. The difference between most of these situations and my is I never ordered any airline tickets for mine. I ordered once for a friend using his CC and I’m being billed to my Bank account for this monthly charge. How they got MY account infor is scary and I intend on finding out.

  60. Sharra In TN Jan 28

I just realized this myself. For the past 2 months, they have charged me $9 and I too thought it was something that my husband had forgotten to tell me… I looked it up online to see exactly what it was and found this site and some others. I called the 888 number and first they told me that they don’t have a record of my name and email address…but if I gave them my cc# then they would credit my account. I thought that was sketchy, so I asked for something to fax them so they could do it and then I kept reading this site and then called them back, and guess what??? They found my info…imagine that! She said it was from ordering something from Lillian Vernon. So they cancelled it and are going to refund my money. What a scam this is… she said they same thing, that they don’t typically refund back month charges, but she will do it this time… blah blah blah…I’m going to see if I can find someone to be a whistle blower on the news or something for this company. What a crock!

  61. Kate in STL Jan 28

For the past 2 months the $9.00 charge showed up on my credit card. Because the first one showed up before Christmas, I thought perhaps I bought something. However, I quickly assured myself that I had never contacted this company and they had never contacted me. This is fraud and it should be stopped.

  62. Nancy in NY Jan 28

We’ve been billed $9.00 since Oct, four months…from a purchase at EB games in September. I spoke with a Brenda, who tried to just refund the $9.00 for this month…I made noise about how bogus this whole scam is and I’ve now also been promised a full refund, $36, even though it “…goes against their company policy, but they will make an exception in this case…”. She didn’t try refute anything I said, which is pretty revealing, and supposedly we will be refunded in 3-5 days….we’ll see

  63. Joya A. Jan 28

I’m so glad I found this page. I just came home after being gone for a few months. I went through my bills and when I got to my bank statements, I noticed a consistant $9 charge on every 22 of each month. There was no phone number to call… nothing. I had left my bank account low before I left so now I went into the “red” with my bank. I’m calling them now. Thank you.

  64. Callen Jan 28

I am so confused. I check my statment online almost daily so when i saw this $9 charge I was like “huh?” so i called the company and they said i signed up for a $10 off deal with Columbia House… but I didnt know they’d randomly start charging me! Have I been taken advantage of or is this my fault???

  65. Jessica Jan 28

I too was stuck with this $9 charge from reservation rewards. I don’t know for how long this has been going on - I’ve only noticed it on the last two bills - I am checking into it on all my previous bills though. I was wondering is there ANYTHING we can do personally to get the current charge refunded (that has not been paid). And the ones I have already paid.??????

  66. Nancy Jan 28

Yes, you can get your money back. Call them, either 800-732-7031 or 888-688-5995. Tell them you are “cancelling” and that you want ALL your money back…they will try to give you only the current month’s charge, but just insist that you want it all. They will then tell you that they’ll “make an exception just for you”…just like all the other exceptions they’ve made for most of the other people here who have posted…get the person’s name and a confirmation number…

  67. Mark Jan 28

Well, Much to my surprise I received credit back to September ‘04. WLI kept their word by immediately crediting my account with 5 separate $9.00 entries. I would still recommend the 3-way call since there was absolutley no hassell with the credit request when approached in that manner. Good luck to all…..

  68. Mildred Jan 28

I’m joining this group, I too was charged 9 bucks since sept. ‘04. Who pays attention to a small amount like this, it must have been something the spouse did, right…?
I just called the CC and the lady explained how to file a dispute claim.
I’ve looked through all your suggested companies you have done business with that might have lead to this but none of them was a name that I recognize and that intrigues me.
I have a website where I sell jewelry and I accept PAYPAL payments. I have not had any problems with customers so I assume they (Paypal) do not pull this kind of scam.
    Will keep you posted.

  69. Toke Jan 28

I have been charged 9.00 $ by WLI Reservation Rewards for the last two months. Like Mark, I suspect that they got my account number from Fandango.com - I don’t think I will ever buy movie tickets there again. The second time they charged me, I started wondering, and a quick google-search convinced me, that I had been victim to a fraud. I am going to talk with my bank tomorrow. Thanks a lot for for this webpage.

  70. nat Jan 28

I had this problem today from an order I placed with Lillian Vernon. I actually was a little leary just from the popup and I printed it. I was glad I did I immediately new what it was and calles ASAP. They are refunding my money. I also emailed Lillian Vernon about this problem and gave them a copy of this link so they could see all of the complaints. In doing a search you find many many links regarding this scam. I hope everyone gets closer very soon.

  71. Yong Jan 28

Same scam here. The first instance was in Dec. and it comes up again this Jan. I was very suspicious first time around, but tried (!) to ignore it. Now I think I had enough. It adds up the pain that my CC company is in Asia. Thank you for the posting.

  72. Judi Jan 28

Today..1/31/05 My husband and I looked at our bank account statement and found a charge neither of us made ( We are very sure of this!) We contacted our bank who is now disputing that charge of $80.50 from JFYONLINE and the bank had given me thier phone # to call for my own investigation of the matter, How ever when i called it a man answers the phone saying that I had dialed a completly diffrent # than was shown on my phone at the moment.. grrr.. Ok I know a scam when I see one and this is really ticking me off!!! There has to be a way to protect ourselves from this type of fraud! I tryed to have any future charges to my account stopped but the bank said all they could do was dispute them as they happen. That’s not fair to us! As it sits we have no way to reach the company who charged us and we dont pay for anyting online so we know with out a doubt this was not our doing. these companys are tapping into our computers and stealing our info to do this and its just so wrong in so many ways. We all need to come together and bring charges against them. If anyone has a number or this company please send it to me (@-JParker0127@aol.com) so i can reach them. I’m not going down with out a fight!
Thanks for letting me vent my frustration over this matter.

  73. Judi Jan 28

Up-Date… I have found that LandMark Clearance Inc. is the colletion company for the JYFONLINE company..(just for you communications) Interestingly enough though, Landmark is refunding me the charges. so they say.. their phone # is 972-239-2327 Ex. 47. I talked to a man named skip..lol what a name huh for a scam like this!. I have been through a lot to find this mess out and get this far.. now the bank collecting for this company is Wells Fargo their phone# is 1800-745-2426 for the ACH dept. This skip guy had the nerve to ask me for my bank account info and I told him sorry I cant give you that. We found this charge was done under my husbands name (who by the way never buys a thing online) Landmark says they are putting a stop on this account as well.. we will see about that …lol. I still feel we all need to come together though and bring a lawsuit against them for fraud! Lets shut them down for good so they don’t get away with this any more! I am still on the case.. I don’t give up easy and will find a way to go after them for fraud even if its on my own. Any of you who wish to join me with this can contact me and put fraud in the subjest area of your email so i can get to it faster. Thanks again and I hope the info I have listed helps some of you as well.

  74. Larry Jan 28

I to have been scammed by this company as well as premier preminum com. and tellis com. I tried to cancel this charge a few months ago and they are still billing me for it. when you call up their number they say put in your credit card number. I am old and am really getting tired of all of these scams. We have contacted the attorney general and the f.b.i from the places where these originate and am going to do so on this one also. I am really tired of being ripped off.

  75. Darlene from California Jan 28

I just got zapped on my credit card from WLI Reservation. My credit union gave me a contact number they found with the transaction so I called. They stated I had “signed up” when I used the Fandango website. They did not argue when I asked for a full refund and for my membership to be cancelled. Having been to this site it is easy to understand why they eagerly complied with my request. I can’t imagine the revenue they generate from all those who do not catch the monthly charge!!!

  76. Randy Jan 28

Me too! Luckily I was scanning my bill for other items and caught this. I called them and they did say they will refund me. They had charged me for two months and after a little arguing he agreed to refund both. He said that I had signed up after ordering movie tickets online. I had never ordered tickets through the email address he gave me though. It’s my junk yahoo account I just use for spammish web pages.

  77. s2v2 Jan 28

found this website trying to reconcile the company credit card charges. Thanks for the help, I called and felt a little uneasy with them asking me to enter my cc number. This is the second time this has happened.

  78. Charlie Jan 28

Yes, I was scammed also. For Dec 2004 and Jan 2005, I was charged a monthly fee of $7.00 by WLI ReservationRewards.
I am glad that you have this site exposing this scam.

  79. Jesse K. Jan 28

I was also scammed by WLI Reservation Rewards. Unfortunately because I use my credit card for a lot travel related expenses I didn’t catch the $7.00/month charge until 10 months after the fact! I have contacted the company and cancelled my account. I’ve also asked them for a proof of memebrship application otherwise I’m filing a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Office.

  80. Mike W. in Maine Jan 28

Well, I can only reiterate what everyone esle has sais.. THIS IS A SCAM.. with a capital S..I just cought the charge after booking with ORBITZ.. Not going to do that again..

  81. Andre Jan 28

Got scammed too… DEC/JAN05… My wife went to LilianVernon.com and all of a sudden charges for this rewards program and for some credit report service showed up in our credit card.. Each for 9.00 dollars.

  82. rawah Jan 28

i just got charged twice.i didnt even buy anything online!!!!wonder why these people do these…….they charged me twice ,each for $10.00

  83. Katie in AL Jan 28

Just wanted to add my name to the list. I noticed the charges on my credit card statement for the past 2 months and called the number listed to see why I was being charged. Apparently, I “signed up” for Reservation Rewards after making a purchase from Chadwick’s online. They have told me they would credit my account and cancel my “subscription”. Hopefully, that will be successful. I will also contact Chadwick’s to file a complaint. Adam, thanks for posting this information. I came across your website after running a search for this company. It has definitely compelled me to communicate to everyone else to beware of this scam!

  84. Fitz in CO Jan 28

Thanks for the site and info. I bought a game for my grandson at EBgames online and got the $9 charge on my credit card this morning. Without this site I would never have found out which of the purchases I made online resulted in my “membership”. EBgames pretty much blames me for not reading the email they sent “within minutes” of my order. I probably bounced it as junk mail.

  85. James K. Smith Jan 28

They got me when I ordered from a company in Kansas. There must be something we can do to get the legal authorities to stop these people and punish them.

  86. Sara Jan 28

I just found out today. Thank you for having this website, so I know I’m not the only one. I still don’t know how they got my name, the only place I’ve ordered online from was Ebay, so I don’t know how they got my information. I thought someone had stolen my debit card, so I had my account frozen. I checked my online banking today and noticed the 9$ scam.

  87. Jaime Alvarez Jan 28

What I have to tell them? just my name? to cancel the membership and have a refund? thank you

  88. Mike Graham Jan 28

They got my wife also, I just called and cancelled and got all 3 months refunded (supposedly) .. the guy was less than easy to deal with until I mentioned that the attny general might be interested. Jamie, I gave them my last name and zip, from there he asked my first name, when that didn’t match I told em my wifes first name and he asked me to verify mailing address.

  89. Sam Jan 28

I found the charge $9 charge from WLI. I called my credit card company since I did not feel comfortable giving my CC # to the WLI company over the phone. My credit card company called WLI for me, had them cancel the subscription and refund the charges. Very easy to deal with credit card company. WLI has automated service.

  90. Hugo Jan 28

We were %*%&()_ too. I called the company and cancelled my “membership”. I will watch my statement closely. If they guts to charge me one more time, I’ll use my frequent flyer miles to visit their corportate office. It won’t be a pretty scene. Let’s unite and sue the hell out of them.

  91. 396NYC Jan 28

Ditto - 5 months of $7 charges on my Mastercard. What a bunch of ZEROES!! They are probably raking in $$ millions from all the unsuspecting peple out there who do not go over their monthly statements with a fine tooth comb…RESERVATION REWARDS, shame on you, you BIOTCHES!!

  93. Scooby Jan 28

Just saw the same $9 charge on my account today. I have a feeling that they got my info from moviefone.com. After googling wli, i found this site and http://home.reservationrewards.com/Default.asp. I went there and got them to send me a password for my membership that I supposedly signed up for. I logged into the site and found a link to cancel my membership. They sent me an email with a canelation number along with saying that they would refund my $9. Its been an hour and it still hasnt shown up on my account statement so cant tell you how long this refund will take. Hope this helps bypass all the B.S.ing with WLI reps on the phone.

  94. Dave Jan 28

Yep!!! Ditto on everything here. Not sure how I got signed up for this RIP-OFF, but they did the same to me with another site called Travel Value. You get pretty much nothing for $9.00 a month, or in my case $18.00. Using these links, I was able to get my password and proceed to the “Cancel my membership” page.
    http://home.reservationrewards.com/Default.asp
    http://www.travelvaluesplus.com/features/default.asp
Thanks Adam for putting up this page.

  96. lemurballs Jan 28

This is horrible, but i guess legal. I just called buyerassurance and they cancelled my account. Just give them name/zip code and verify your email address. They are going to refund THIS months $7.00 charge. This is BS.

  97. Bunny Jan 28

I had the same $9 charges appear on my bank statement and called the company. The lady was helpful, and didn’t argue about reversing the charges. I had bought clothes online through Jessica London’s site and she said I had signed up there. I DON’T ever go anywhere and don’t fly so I told her I was wrongfully billed for this “service” and I would take legal action if any further charges show up. I would like to go in on a class action suit if anyone is interested. These “small” charges cost me big-time as it put my account in an overdraft situation which I will never be re-imbursed for those charges!

  98. Toke Jan 28

I called WLI reservation Reservation Rewards, and without arguing they promised that they would return my 18$ and cancel my membership. And they actually did return my money and send me an e-mail saying that my membership had been cancelled. When I called I had to key in my accoun number however, and I didn’t feel good about that. I just hope that they will leave my bank count alone now. The guy I talked to confirmed, that they had received my account number from fandango.com.

  99. Taken Jan 28

I fell victim as well. I’ll have my credit card company reference this URL to see what’s been going on up to this point. Maybe, they’ll be able to make a bigger deal out of it than a bunch of individuals.

  100. John Rip’d Off Jan 28

What a fool I am, found out I’ve been paying this B Sh*t charge for months! I didn’t scrutinize my bill as there are hundreds of monthly charges and this little $9.00 charge was un noticed. I called the company and closed the account through an automated phone tree. I’ll now attempt to dispute the charges and get some money back but it won’t look good as they’ve been charging this to me for months. What a SCAM!

  101. rosa Jan 28

I can’t believe how many people have been taken by this scam I thought I was alone in this. Thank you for the info. it took me 2 months to notice my statement. Wish me luck, I will be calling them. thanks again.

  102. Teresa Jan 28

This just happened to me. It was classmates.com that nailed me. It makes me angry. It had been going on for 5 months without me knowing it. Fortunately, my credit card company got involved and this company agreed to refund me the $50.00. Beware!

  103. Aqil Jan 28

JFYONLINE got me too, Thanks Judi for all the information.
I will let you know how things have gone.

  104. JOse Jan 28

It happened to my wife while using Joann.com. reservation rewards attempted to keep 27 dollars but we telephoned them at 1800 737-7031. I got the same story everyone got, and reservation rewards advised me that they would refund my money. I cancelled my debit card so not to take a chance that account could be use else where.

I found this web site after finding a $ 80.50 charge on my checking account. The company JFYONLINE1 said they will refund it in 3-5 working days. I bet I never see it

  107. Adam B. Jan 28

I had this happen to me. Today is 02/11/2005. Today I looked at my bank statement and found I was being charged by WLI*. I called the bank and filed a dispute, andthey were about to cancel my card when I asked them to hold off for a couple days. Then I called the 1-800 number for WLI and hit option #3 for “other questions”. A customer support guy named Steve told me that I had been signed up for 15 months, and that I got signed up while using Fandango.com. I told him to cnacel my account and that I wanted a refund. He offered me $9 and I said I wanted a full refund because I had never authorized this, and I was asking my bank to investigate. He said they “don’t normally do this” but agreed to give a full refund for 15 months x $9. We’ll see if I get it! I encourage anyone who gets hit by these scammers to push them for all of your money back!

  108. KEA in Mass Jan 28

I was being charged on my credit card the past 6 months. I called my credit card to dispute but you should also called WLI. WLI told me that I ordered the service and I know I didn’t!!!! They said I accepted the terms after ordering a text book from the Academy of Dermatology Website. They claimeed that they emailed me the terms and that I accepted. They charged me even though I never got the email and never accepted the terms. I called WLI and they said they would credit my account. I will be watching for this credit on my account. This is so sketchy. It all originated from a pop up while I was ordering a book.

  109. Second Timothy Jan 28

Another furious customer. I found the charge on my card before my bill even came by lookin online. I immediately disputed it as a Fraud and got ‘conditional return’ of my $9.00. I filed a complaint with the Conneticut BBB. Tried to file a complaint with the Conneticut Attorney General but have found that difficult to do.

  110. I rather not be named Jan 28

My dad doesn’t read or write English, so I’m the one helping him with the credit card charges, I noticed “WLI*RESERVATIONREWARDS 800-7327031” CT, and I thought it was strange. My dad said he never purchase anything with $9.00. I call the phone number and cancel the program that my dad, supposely, joined.

  111. JUDI Jan 28

To all… specially Aqil and edohio.. please contact me directly @ JParker0127@aol.com about the JYFONLINE company scam. We are putting together a class action lawsuit against them and need you to join us in it. even if you got your refunds as they said they would do.. I did but I am not stoping at that. They need to be shut down and jailed for what thay are doing to us all. I have more info for you when I talk with you. Thanks

    JUDI

  112. Ricky Williams Jan 28

I got charged by this company as well
WLI*TRAVELVALUESPLUS 800-8904892 CT But I had two charges for 20.00 a piece, I called and the lady(Gladys) found the charges and stated they will be refunded in 3-5 days.I will wait and see what happens, I will repost when the charge is refunded if it is refunded…

  113. Emery Lane Jan 28

I got charged $9 on my credit card with merchant name of WLI*ReservationReward.co). I had not a clue what this was for. I called my credit card company and they got me in touch with the company and they cancelled the charge immediately. Apprently the charge was due to some earlier business with http://www.riverdeep.com (or Broderbund). I have no problem with the webloyalty folks at this time. I need to check into why this happened in the first place.

  114. Lisa Packard Jan 28

Yep Me too!!! How can we stop this!

  115. Margaret H McDonough Jan 28

I too have gota charge for 9,00 on my credit card account..I didnt sign up for anything and I had bought something from amazon .com I just called the people and told them I want the mpney back and take me off the list that I supposedly signed up for ..now I know its a scam I threatened them, I would get a lawyer ..and sue…

  116. Bob Jan 28

I seem to have gotten caught up in a different type scam with Tellis.com. I have charges on my phone bill for an international call billed by a company called USBI on behalf of Tellis.com for $11.29. When I called UBSI to inquire a rep. told me it was for a computer connection. We have two lines and this was billed to the line we use for phone service not the one used for computer connections. When I explained and asked for a credit on my account the rep. told me I had to email Tellis billing, no address, no other help, said have a nice day and hung up. My phone company is sending back the charges and crediting my account for now but who knows if Tellis will send it through again?

  117. Tom Jan 28

I didn’t remember signing up and got an email telling me I was about to be billed. So I went into the “account” and I found a good way to make things better for me. With a little practice, I surfed around and redeemed a bunch of coupons for restaurants and other random things, totally more than $9. Since WLI has to pay for things that are redeemed, I become more expensive to them if I use more than $9 a month in coupons. In some cases, the selection of where you can get discounts is limited, I used a zip code search and found some participating vendors. Its still questionable, but at least this way I save and they pay. Try it!

  118. Mary Anne Jan 28

I, too, had noticed a $9 charge on my Visa bank. Thanks to this Website, I was able to call WLI toll free number. They said I signed up for their membership while buying Fandango tickets. When they told me they would cancel my subscription to WLI, I told them I not only wanted it cancelled, I wanted my money credited back to my Visa card. She said that wasn’t normal practice. I told her I had read all kinds of complaints on the web, and she agreed to refund my money. What a scam!

  119. Jorge Jan 28

I bought movie tickets online on 1/8/2005 through MOVIETICKETS.COM, and clicked on an offer for a $10.- rebate on future purchases. That’s how MLI* got my account info. My February statement showed the first $ 9.00 charge. I was able to “CANCEL” my “MEMBERSHIP” by going to Reservation Rewards’ BENEFIT CANCEL CENTER following the trail from an E-Mail they had sent me at the time.
I contacted MOVIETICKETS.COM suggesting it would be nice if THEY had MLI* return my nine dollars, and I got a prompt response telling me practically that I am on my own, and explaining to me how by clicking on that $ 10 rebate offer I had actually signed on to my membership.
I just e-mailed them back informing them I will never use MOVIETICKETS.COM again.

  120. Eric Jan 28

Been noticing this on my VISA account also and I been trying to find out what the hell it was since I never would pay for something unless I ordered it. Both me and my wife never heard of this WLI garbage and have been trying to find out how to cancel it. I guess I will have to call this number and argue with them. I think a class action lawsuit should be a better route..

  121. Chad Jan 28

I, too, got nabbed by Reservation rewards via a Walter Drake order in December, 2004. In January, 2005 I had a $9.00 charge. While the person at the “800″ number credited my credit card for the $9.00 and canceled the “loyality program,” how they got my credit card number is a subject for discussion.

Evidently when I selected “Yes” to obtain a $10.00 off coupon for my next purchase, Walter Drake, Inc. forwarded all my information to Reservation Rewards and the $9.00/mo. charges started. I, too, checked the BBB in CT and found out R.R. was not a member. Little wonder.

  122. Shannon Jan 28

I had this same thing happen to me. I just called to cancel it, which they assured me would happen immediately…yeah right. I got nabbed through my Classmates.com account. Needless to say, I will not be dealing with that particular website again. Thank you so much for making this page…I thought I was the only one and I was feeling very stupid.

  123. Jorge Jan 28

Update: MOVIETICKETS.COM forwarded my email to Reservation Rewards, and they issued a $9.00 refund to my account. This has been a valuable lesson.
Thank you for this page. Thank you all.

  124. Andrew Jan 28

I bought books for college on half.com and have been getting nailed by this scam for 6 months now. The customer service representative insisted that I signed up for the account, but I know I never did. I can see that many other people have the same problem with this

  125. WillyP Jan 28

I got stuck with $10/month for two months. WLI* says they will refund the $20, and that I signed up through Hotels.com.

  126. kyle Jan 28

Damn stupid scam, called my credit card company to complain, and they have tons of complaints against this bogus company. I called wli reservations, and their automated system lets me cancel. then I talked to an operator, and had them refund me. I clicked the link for the $10 reward, stupid stupid mistake on my part. Lucky these guys aren’t close to me or i’d stalk and hurt them one at a time.

  127. Tim Jan 28

I have just noticed that they have been taking $7.00 out of my account for over a year. It is my fault for not noticing this earlier, but my suggestion is class action law suit

  128. Tim Jan 28

I have just noticed that they have been taking $9.00 from my credit card. I will call them and if you need my signature for any law suit let me know.

  130. Doug Jan 28

My Mother got caught on this scam when we purchased some VCR parts on line. The owner of the company advised that the link had been added on their shopping cart vendor “Americart” but they had gotten it corrected. This company has to be stopped. Their trick is to wait a month before charging the fee, which makes it harder for the victem to figure out where it comes from. I ain’t worried about law suits, I want prosecution of these theives. This wasn’t just me, but my mother also.

  131. Amelia Jan 28

I just got this charge on this account. I’ll check and see how I can cancel it. How horrifying.

  133. George Jan 28

I called their 1-800-732-7031 number, gave them my membership number and they refunded all of my money without any resistance. I simply said that I would like a refund and the person on the line said “It’s not our normal policy but we will make and exception…” Being polite with the person on the phone may have helped my cause. I suspect that they are so quick to issue the refund because they know that they are on or over the edge of legality and they want to keep this scam run
