It&#8217;s a three-armed robot with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.segway.com\">Segway Human Transporter<\/a><a class=\"webcache\" title=\"Locally Cached Version\" href=\"\/adam\/cache\/technology\/cardea.txt\/retrieve\/http:\/\/www.segway.com\">&#183;<\/a> for a foot. It&#8217;s an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ai.mit.edu\" title=\"MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab\">MIT AI Lab project<\/a><a class=\"webcache\" title=\"Locally Cached Version\" href=\"\/adam\/cache\/technology\/cardea.txt\/retrieve\/http:\/\/www.ai.mit.edu\">&#183;<\/a>&#8212;see the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ai.mit.edu\/projects\/cardea\/\" title=\"Cardea\">Project Page<\/a><a class=\"webcache\" title=\"Locally Cached Version\" href=\"\/adam\/cache\/technology\/cardea.txt\/retrieve\/http:\/\/www.ai.mit.edu\/projects\/cardea\/\">&#183;<\/a>. I mention it here&#8212;(1) because it looks pretty nifty, but (2) it&#8217;s a good reminder of the innovation that occurs in academic institutions, where &#8212; arguably &#8212; the typical intellectual property ownership incentive to create is at least limited.
