I always find the comics page to be a good predictor of the nation&#8217;s temperament, and comic strips historically have served as a potent political force. For example, in the late 1800&#8217;s, William &#8220;Boss&#8221; Tweed, a notoriously corrupt New York City politican, was finally <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pbs.org\/wnet\/newyork\/laic\/episode3\/topic6\/e3_t6_s2-tn.html\" title=\"Caught by a Cartoonist\">defeated by Thomas Nast&#8217;s political cartoons<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucomics.com\/tomthedancingbug\">Tom the Dancing Bug<\/a> is one of my favorites. <\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ucomics.com\/tomthedancingbug\/2003\/09\/27\/\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.rosi-kessel.org\/tom_bug_copyright.png\" class=\"insetcenter\" \/> <\/a> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There have been an awful lot of comic strips lately about the Recording Industry&#8217;s copyright lawsuits and related issues.
