If you have any mathematical background at all, you will find this class to be probably too simplistic and at times even a bit boring. The subjects are generally useful though, we learned how to read financial statements, evaluate companies, value stocks and bonds, and use statistics in discrimination cases...all in all very useful stuff. If you aren't good at math, don't worry. There is very little involved, there were 3 quick and easy assignments (no final, the 3rd paper was technically the final...only a 2 page paper), and the class size was small which made some discussions pretty good. This is an easy 3 credit class if you are looking for something to fill your schedule and don't want a large workload.

I agree with the above. If you are afraid of math, this is an absolute MUST during your law school career. I no longer fear settlement discussions, financial reports, or statistics. I am 2 weeks into my co-op and I have already used skills that I learned in this class 3 times - twice for discrimination suits and once for analyzing a company's financial data. I do not recommend this class to people who have a financial background because 1. you will be bored, 2. you might ruin the grading curve : ) and 3. you will frustrate other members of the class. The professor is very charming, will provide extra assistance on the 3 assignments outside of class time, and seems to be aware that most of what students learn is during class after a partial skim of the reading rather than from hours and hours of studying beforehand. Warning: he will call on you at random but it's OK admit you don't know.
