Happy Belated Chanukah 5766

So I’m a little late, but Happy Belated Chanukah 5766. Among other gifts (to ourselves), we got a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30, about which more later. In the meantime, I’d like to do more photoblogging, and toward that end, I declare all content here to be licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.5 License. I’m certainly open to granting less restrictive licenses, I’d just like to be asked first.

Oh, right, and no more sweets for the month of January. I’ve had enough.

    Why NoDerivs?

It was a close call. Some things I would be comfortable allowing derivative works by default; others I would really rather find out what derivative work is intended and grant special permission. I can’t articulate where the dividing line is, exactly, and don’t want to bother licensing each blog entry and/or image and/or video clip under a different license. Up until now, I’ve had no license on my blog, thus under default coypright law, no permissions granted. I figure if someone has a good derivative use for some content here, I will be happy to grant permission, and this way I can worry less.

It also comes down to the fact that I think about code very differently from the sort of content I post here. Most of this content just isn’t all that well suited for derivative use.
