Caltrain Goes Wifi

Via tikirobot: CalTrain goes WiFi:

The train reached 79 mph while testers watched streaming video, composed e-mail and completed a large file download at broadband speeds…

The service apparently will be free.

So when will Boston get a similar service for the subway or commuter rail? Given the MBTA’s dismal performance lately and inability to implement new technology (e.g. e.g. e.g.), I’m not going to hold my breath.

As I’ve mentioned (“offline”), I have this idea that Boston is just gloriously decrepit. Of course it will never do anything like Caltrain has done. And I love that about Boston. Boston will never be the birthplace of a fascist takeover of our country; they’d have to get their shiv together to do that. So I, for one, am thankful that the city can’t really do anything right.
